Teaching
I’ve taught Starting a Business Spring term at the University of Oregon for several years in a row now, most recently this last Spring, 2008. It’s listed as BA410. And I’m already signed up to teach that class again this year, Spring 2009, which will be the 11th year that I’ve taught it. You can see this year’s syllabus and assignments and slides and all at ba410.com.
I like teaching. I’m an occasional guest speaker at several different classes, most often in Oregon and at times as far away as the University of Notre Dame. And they’ve started a formal review process at the University of Oregon, and I’m ranked “superior” as a prof.
This year I’m using the Wordpress platform for the class site so that I can make it available as a starting point (syllabus, readings, assignments, schedule, links, etc.) for others teaching similar classes who would like to use it as a starting point for their own syllabus and class schedule plan. What that means, in practical terms, is that the entire site is available as a source file that can then be imported into any of several leading blog platforms, most of them free, and used as a starting point. Begin with what I have, and edit it to make it your own.
If you’re teaching a class, and this is interesting to you, just email me (tberry at paloalto.com) and I’ll formally grant you the permission you need. And if you aren’t already familiar with one of the main blogging platforms (Wordpress, Typepad, Blogger, etc.) then mention that in the email, and I’ll help you with more detailed instructions.
